Privacy Policy for Click and Theme Chrome Extension

Last Updated: 10/20/2026

Introduction

Click and Theme ("we", "our", or "us") is a Chrome extension that lets you restyle websites with pre-made themes, your own CSS, or AI-generated styles. This Privacy Policy explains what information the extension handles and where it goes.

Data Stored on Your Device

The following is saved locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API (chrome.storage.local) and never leaves your device unless you use AI Styling (see below):

You can delete a website's saved style with Remove in the popup, or remove its saved style and reading preferences from My sites. Uninstalling the extension removes its local data.

Data Sent When You Use AI Styling

AI Styling is optional. Only when you select an area of a page and click "Generate Style", the extension sends the following to the Click and Theme backend (hosted on Amazon Web Services):

The backend forwards this to OpenAI to generate CSS, and returns only CSS to the extension. The backend may keep request logs (including the data above) for a limited time for troubleshooting and abuse prevention; they are not used for any other purpose. The page you are on may contain personal information inside the area you select; please avoid selecting areas with sensitive content.

Pre-made themes, Reading comfort, Focus mode, the CSS editor, and keyboard shortcuts work without sending any data.
